It’s been a bizarre day, answering questions about the U.S. moving ahead with approvals for irradiation on some leafy greens, and Canada moving backwards – really backwards – into political grandstanding while people suffer in an expanding listeria outbreak. The latest news is that five deaths are now being investigated and dozens of illnesses. Recently I read in the news about the man in Russia found to exihibit telekinetic abilities, he was tested and tested by researchers, and they could find no 'convential' explanation as to why he could make a ball roll across a perfectly flat table while standing a few feet away.

Looking out the window as your flight finally pulls back from the gate, you're vaguely aware of the flight attendant yammering over the PA system: eight emergency exits...evacuation slides, aisle path lighting, closest usable exit may be behind you...blah, blah, blah. Sure, when a big crash makes the news I stop to wonder how I'd find my way off.
Three new Canon digital cameras update product lines

Canon the other day unveiled three new digital cameras, among others, which fill out further its A-series line as well as its SX-series of ultra-zoom cameras. These cameras include the new PowerShot A1000 IS and PowerShot A2000 IS as well as the PowerShot SX110 IS. Pricing is set at around $200, $250 and $300, respectively. Canon says these new cameras offer new looks, robust feature sets and lighter body designs. All should be available by the end of September. You can read full details aft
